Booked online. Turned up on time @ 6.30pm with 4 children 2 adults. Ordered drinks and food. Drinks turned up. Starters arrived, some wrong, some missing, but no matter. Garlic bread had no garlic and children's starter was a dry corner of a tiny roll which was too hard for the tiny teeth to get a purchase. The waitress brought over a starter which was missed and one which was wrong. We mentioned the garlic bread was missing garlic. We were smiling and fine at that point. She said she’d sent the ‘manager’ over??...... Cut a long excuse of a passive aggressive rant by said ‘manager’ short. Apparently the existence or lack of existence of ingredients were a surprise to him and then the customer! Things run out. It is covid. I enquired (trying to calm him down and progress the conversation) if the salmon I had ordered was still in the building...the response was quite funny really. He ranted a bit more about us going I then repeated the question that if the mains we had ordered would be ok we will move on and ignore the starters, he said he had no idea, ‘we were in a covid situation’, get what you’re given. He then said we should leave (I suspect he knew the salmon had fled the kitchen) He ranted about taking it up with head office. Every restaurant was experiencing this situation. ‘We were lucky to get a table.‘ I beg to differ actually. We have eaten out twice ever day for 5 days without ANY issue at all. To add also there was a distinct lack of social distancing with most tables, no masks or visors on ANY staff, no hair nets on the kitchen staff, no masks on anyone at all, It has isn’t a happy place to work or eat. We did leave. I think others did too. The ‘manager’ was keen for us to take our trip up with head office so we have tweeted them, dm’d them on instagram too. He didn’t want to tell us his name. We took a photo instead. The guy really needs help from head office, some retraining on how to talk to customers to resolve tiny issues before they become 1 star trip advisor reviews. Zizzi food and staff in Stockport are utterly fabulous btw!

Very busy & a power cut but staff kept going & we had a good meal - pizza & linguine. Surprised that staff did not have visors & it felt ‘normal’ although tables are a little further apart.

The place looks very nice but is extremely noisy. Don't expect a relaxing meal. You'll need to raise your voice in order to hear each other. There was Spaghetti on the floor which the manager spotted and cleaned as we were sitting down. He didn't spot the pasta and tomato sauce stuck to the menu.. They were out of a lot of things on the menu. The food was a bit bland and did look uninviting. We'd generally spend around 90 minutes but decided not to stay for dessert. We weren't looking for refund or discount but informed the manager of our disappointment after paying and on our way out. My advice is to look for an independent rather than a chain.

This is one of the best Zizzi's that we know. The staff are superb, really attentive and you can see that they are enjoying their work. We usually have a calamari and a chilli prawns for starters - both great dishes - and then risottos or lasagne. The restaurant is very popular and busy, so you need to book, but the place is really great, we love it. Right in the centre of town, just round the corner from the RSC theatre. What more could you want!!!
