From the edgy and diverse Peckham and New Cross to well-heeled Dulwich and beyond, South East London restaurants offer a little bit of everything. Visitors flock to South East London for the Oval Cricket Ground, along with Greenwich Park and Royal Observatory, the National Maritime Museum and the South Bank’s cultural attractions. The O2 Arena at North Greenwich regularly hosts the biggest names in music.Restaurants in South East London tend towards the less formal, and represent cuisines from all around the globe.
For pre-and post-performance dining, head to Mezzanine at the National Theatre. The venue’s late supper menu focuses on steak, and serves their meaty marvels with a blackberry bellini, and there’s always a vegetarian option on offer. The Mezzanine’s regular evening menu offers gourmet delights like pear and Roquefort salad with Treviso and candied pears, and game wellington with wild mushrooms.
More theatre-themed eating is to be had at Swan at The Globe, right next to Shakespeare’s historic theatre. Menus are seasonal and local, and offer an ample selection of steak options. The Swan also offers a gourmet range of British tapas, including Cornish sardines on toast, and Saddleworth sausage roll.
